BHS August Parent Newsletter
The August newsletter is ready!  This edition has information you will need for the start of the school year, including articles on Back to School Night, the traffic pattern for 2015-16, news for Seniors and their parents, and cafeteria prices.  The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the Athletic Booster Club, the Choral Boosters, and the Marching Band Boosters also share their plans for the school year.  Please take a moment to read the newsletter so you are "in the know" about what is happening at Battlefield.

Cafeteria Information
We are looking forward to another year of providing nutritious, high quality meals to our students this year.  School Food & Nutrition Services continues to be on the forefront of not only meeting, but exceeding requirements set forth by state and federal governments.  Click here to read more concerning balanced meals, payment options, as well as free and reduced meals.
Application for Fee Waiver
Students that are eligible to receive free or reduced meals, and whose parent/guardian provides consent for the release of their eligibility status, may be eligible for fee waivers. In order to obtain the applicable fee waivers, please complete this form and return it to your school’s cafeteria manager. By completing this form, you are authorizing the cafeteria manager to release the pertinent information to the school’s office staff.

Yearbooks on sale until Sept. 4th
Yearbooks are on sale! Prices are $55, only until September 4th. Order them now at Yearbooks will also be on sale at Back to School Night, September 3rd.
Senior Ads and Shoutouts (quotes and baby picture) can also be purchased online. Prices will be going up throughout the year.
Battlefield Traffic Patterns

BHS Parking Pass Information for the 2015-16 School Year
Students who wish to drive to school, who have not previously had a parking permit, need to attend a brief meeting with a parent on September 8 meeting at 3 PM.

Please remember to bring your:
• vehicle registration
• valid driver’s license
• $100 cash or check payable to Battlefield High School.
Homecoming Dance 2015…October 3rd 8-11 PM at BHS
Tickets go on sale August 24th for this year’s dance! Order forms are available to download or pick up in the Main Office. Those of you purchasing for current BHS students use the BHS student only form, those of you wishing to bring a non-BHS guest use the Guest Form! (Please be aware that you get permission for your guest AND order your tickets BOTH with the same form-you cannot order tickets until your guest has been approved) EARLY BIRD pricing! Tickets ordered before Sept. 4th will be half price ($10), after that the standard price will be $20 per person. BE MINDFUL of Deadlines!
The SCA is seeking students to be “Rufus” the mascot at various games and events during the school year. If you have great imagination and energy please consider joining the Bobcat Corps! Download the application and submit it today! Rufus is counting on YOU!
CALLING All student leaders!
The SCA is seeking to fill 60+ positions as class delegates for the 2015-16 school year. If you have the energy and passion to advocate for the student body and help to make BHS’s large events a success please join us. All you need to do is fill out a short application and return to the Main Office, they will be accepted all year-or until all spots are filled. Attention Class of 2019-----------Student Leaders Wanted!
The incoming Freshmen class needs to elect their officers for the 2015-16 school year. The positions of Class President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are chosen by a class wide vote. If you think you can help lead your class during its first year at Battlefield please consider running for one of these offices. Intent to Run forms and a Campaign Information Memo are available to download or pick up in the Main Office starting August 20th. The deadline to submit your intent form is September 4th. Support your school through the PTO
Support your school! Please consider joining the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). A family membership is only $10, or you can join and advertise your family's business for only $25. Your donation will support the New Student Orientation, PTO Scholarships, Teacher Appreciation events, and other school needs.
Once you join, you will be alerted to meeting dates and other opportunities if you have the time to participate. We are also always looking for those who are interested in helping to organize/lead events. Please take a moment to view the flyer for more details. We look forward to a successful school year!

Summer Reading and Assignments
There are three distinct summer programs relevant to Battlefield students.  While some pertain only to students taking AP and Pre-AP courses in the Fall, others are open to all PWCS students.  See the Summer Reading 2015 page for details.
